Reuniting with Presence

Facilitator: Rita Waters

This evening will be a “soft opening” – providing time to fully arrive in this time and space. We will engage in a guided meditation that utilizes some of Ilana’s 18 Principles to unite one’s body with awareness and grace. We will then employ an Ilana technique of gentle touch and greeting, followed by a creative and fun introductions. The remainder of the evening will be an opportunity to catch up with one another or get some much needed rest before starting a full and energy-packed conference on Tuesday.

Tuesday, Sept. 10
8:00 - 8:25 AM

Coming Home to Begin Again: Moving within our Range of Ease

Facilitator: Bonnie Muller

In this bodymind experience, you will guided in listening to the fine movements, the tiny intrinsic muscles closest to the bone, our truest sense of self. It is an invitation to experience head rolling side to side as metaphor for respecting how much is enough . . . in our bodies, in our lives. When do we, how can we, stay within our range of ease? Adding tilting the chin down toward the chest, up toward the ceiling, with the same encouragement. . . then a reminder/rebodyer that those are the movements we use for ‘no’ and ‘yes’. It also includes a full body scan throughout to check for places that are listening.

Tuesday, Sept. 10
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Listening to Me/Listening to You

Facilitator: Mike Schlesinger

In an experiential review of some of the foundations and principles of RSM, we will listen to ourselves as we explore the Alexander Technique's ease of movement and Feldenkrais' use of non-habitual movements to increase awareness.

We will then work in pairs to practice the listening touch to receive messages from another's body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

Activities will include chair and tablework.

Tuesday, Sept. 10
2:00 - 5:00 PM

Clearing Out the Sh*t, Shame and Blame

Facilitator: Joan Brooks

Our wounds and the wounds of our clients are almost always covered over with the shit, shame and blame that does not belong to us. Clearing that crap out exposes the REAL wound, which can then be healed.

In this workshop, we’ll get in touch with the shit, shame and blame that does not belong to us through journaling and table sessions. Then we’ll clear out that shit, shame and blame in a ritual.

This session will give you a better understanding of why it might be difficult for some clients to get in touch with and heal their very real wounds. Helping them clear that out of their bodies may well speed and deepen their healing.

Tuesday, Sept. 10
7:00 PM

Nighttime Bodymind Yoga

Facilitator: Heather Skoll

Clearing the Rain

Facilitator: Linda Novick

This bodymind experience will focus on moving the legs and hips.

Wednesday, Sept. 11
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Lymphatics and RSM

Facilitator: Heather Skoll

The lymphatic system is responsible for the movement of fluids in our bodies. However, when the lymphatics get clogged, our health can decline as nothing flows properly.

What does this have to do with RSM?

RSM can help by moving emotion, and getting us unstuck, like unplugging a clogged drain. Alongside physical tools to move lymphatics, specific hands on RSM movements and guidance can help us flow once again.

In this workshop, you will learn more about the lymphatic system, tools to use to move lymphatics physically, and you will practice hands on RSM moves with a lens on important lymph points in the body.

Wednesday, Sept. 11
2:00 - 5:00 PM

The Labyrinth as Bridge to RSM

Facilitator: Alix Amar

Walking a Labyrinth can be an excellent tool for mindful meditation, body awareness, self-reflection and healing. Paired with RSM it can be very effective in assisting our clients to explore the body’s wisdom and in integrating body, mind, emotions and spirit. Various versions of the Labyrinth have been documented by different cultures around the world, dating back to the Greeks in 2500 BCE. We are fortunate to have a labyrinth on location at our retreat center.

In this workshop you will have the opportunity to walk a Labyrinth and learn about its history and various therapeutic applications. There will be two brief drawing experiences designed to enhance your awareness of the impact that walking a labyrinth offers. After walking the labyrinth, we will do tablework in dyads to explore the themes that come up during the individual labyrinth walk and finally there will be a time to come to together to share and discuss other ways to integrate the labyrinth into our practices.

Wednesday, Sept. 11
7:00 - 8:30 PM

An Evening of Playback Theatre: Co-Creation and Communication

Facilitator: Judy Swallow

United in our love for RSM, we can share our stories and watch them played back using this form of improvisation, using movement, music, and embodied empathy.

Enjoy and celebrate our connections!

Thursday, Sept. 12
9:30 - 11:30 AM

The Unification of Spirit

Facilitator: Barb Conway

In a world of division, the one space that can not be divided is the unseen life of spirit. We are all connected to the greater whole of all things. Let's rekindle and renew the energy of the spirit as we refine and define this common thread of humanity.

We will tune into this connection with a bodyspirit, followed by a presentation. We will explore spirit with table work and share our thoughts and hopes. Let us gain new insight and be full of the light connection that surpasses the darkness while carrying our gift of healing to the hurting.
